The CBSM Church Revitalization Task Force \u00a0(CRTF) was set up after the ALC 2021 and \u00a0convened its first meeting on the 2nd of \u00a0October 2021. \u00a0<\/p>

It is specially tasked to study, facilitate, equip, \u00a0and provide resources to the smaller \u00a0assemblies, in partnership with CBSM and its \u00a0board of Trustees. It also seeks to explore the \u00a0deployment of \u201cfull-time\u201d worker\/s to small \u00a0assemblies and to establish a partnership with \u00a0the Chinese Assemblies Secretariat of \u00a0Malaysia (CASM) with the purpose of \u00a0revitalizing small assemblies. \u00a0<\/p>

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

Visitations <\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>

Elders in the CRTF started connecting with \u00a0selected smaller assemblies in the northern \u00a0and east coast regions, either through Zoom \u00a0meetings or physical visitations. \u00a0<\/p>

As a result of the visitations, we have been \u00a0able to network with a few assemblies. In \u00a0collaboration with the CASM-CBSM Full-Time \u00a0Workers\u2019 Trust Fund, we have helped in the \u00a0funding of two \u201cfull-time\u201d workers at two \u00a0English assemblies, Bukit Mertajam Gospel \u00a0Center (BMGC), and Taiping Gospel Hall \u00a0(TGH). The Workers Trust Fund helps by \u00a0partially supporting the workers. The Workers\u2019 \u00a0Fund is also supporting two other believers \u00a0who are serving at Kuala Kangsar Gospel Hall \u00a0(KKGH). We appeal to the English assemblies \u00a0to contribute gifts to the Workers\u2019 Fund above. \u00a0<\/p>

In our collaboration with KKGH, we have a \u00a0CBSM Elder who sits on the committee of \u00a0KKGH and also serves as one of the \u00a0signatories. CRTF, networking with Dr. Khong \u00a0Yoon Loong of Christian STEM Nexus, has \u00a0been able to run a regular STEM program at \u00a0TGH, drawing children to the assembly. Dr. \u00a0Khong has also been running STEM \u00a0programs at various other assemblies as well. \u00a0<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

\u201cFull-time\u201d workers <\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>

Besides networking with assemblies, one of \u00a0the goals of the CRTF in revitalizing small \u00a0assemblies is by way of equipping, training, \u00a0and providing full-time workers to be assigned \u00a0to these assemblies. This is most challenging, \u00a0and we pray the Lord will call many to come \u00a0forward and move out to smaller assemblies \u00a0to serve full-time there. It is encouraging that \u00a0there are assemblies intentionally educating \u00a0and encouraging members to consider \u00a0seriously full-time ministry, as and when the \u00a0Lord calls them. \u00a0<\/p>

CRTF is happy that CBSM, in collaboration \u00a0with the Australian College of Christian \u00a0Studies (ACCS), a brethren educational entity, \u00a0set up the Diakonia Training Institute (DTI), \u00a0providing accredited courses. DTI, with its \u00a0board of lecturers from assemblies, has \u00a0started conducting introductory courses now \u00a0before it officially opens for student enrolment. \u00a0On the 17 th June, one such introductory \u00a0course, \u201cFact vs Fiction: Empowering Critical Thinkers to Influence and Edify,\u201d was \u00a0conducted. It is our prayer that DTI will be the \u00a0platform where assembly members, \u201cfull-time\u201d \u00a0workers, or those considering serving \u00a0\u201cfull-time\u201d can come on board and be trained. \u00a0<\/p>

Church Planting <\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>

Church planting is another focus of the CRTF. \u00a0Assemblies in Malaysia have hardly been \u00a0planting churches over the last ten years. With \u00a0the focus on encouraging more to consider \u00a0serving \u00a0the \u00a0Lord \u00a0full-time, \u00a0providing \u00a0infrastructure like DTI and financial support, \u00a0CRTF hopes to be able to network with \u00a0assemblies in this area. CRTF is beginning to \u00a0move in this direction by providing some \u00a0courses on Spiritual Maturity in collaboration \u00a0with Biblical Eldership Resources (BER). The \u00a0present cohort with fifty registered participants \u00a0runs for 6 months and will graduate in July. \u00a0<\/p>

Further Networking <\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>

CRTF has supported Biblical Eldership \u00a0courses for elders and ministry leaders with \u00a0leadership succession goals in mind. At ALC \u00a02023, a booth for the BER School of The \u00a0Shepherds (SoTS) courses was set up. Many, \u00a0including non-Elders, have benefited from the \u00a0courses, learning the biblical principles of the \u00a0Shepherd Elder. \u00a0CRTF is also working with another task force, \u00a0the Youth Revitalization Task Force, reaching \u00a0out to encourage our younger generation of \u00a0assembly youth. Since IBCM8, Kuala Lumpur, \u00a0a group of committed young adults has \u00a0successfully organized last year\u2019s one-day \u00a0Youth Rally 2024 at Petaling Jaya Gospel Hall \u00a0(PJGH). They have planned this year’s \u00a0three-day Youth Rally 2025 (for youth aged \u00a012-23) in Elim Gospel Hall, Ipoh, this coming \u00a0June. With the rising cases of mental health \u00a0issues, CRTF collaborated with Datuk Dr Ang \u00a0Kim Teng, from SSGC, to run the Mental \u00a0Health First Aid Course (MHFA). Three such \u00a0courses have been successfully run, and we \u00a0had several elders and assembly members \u00a0who participated. \u00a0<\/p>

Conclusion <\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>

Many assemblies are reaching out to smaller \u00a0assemblies to help with their ministries. Such \u00a0collaboration and networking are helpful. \u00a0CRTF will continue to help enhance such \u00a0collaborations, and assemblies can reach out \u00a0to us.
