Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We thank the Lord for His preserving grace and His continued faithfulness to the assemblies and the work carried on by His people.<\/p>

On behalf of the Christian Brethren Secretariat Malaysia (CBSM), it is hope that this issue of Diakonia<\/em> will be a blessing to you, your household, and your assembly.<\/p>

The word diakonia<\/em> is a reminder that the life we live should be one of service. It is worth noting that much of the Lord\u2019s work is unseen. It is seen in the faithful labour of the local assembly – caring for one another, working in the field of souls, quiet prayer, cheerfully giving into the offering bag, serving in the kitchen, or helping in the backroom. Much of it unannounced and uncelebrated. Yet while these acts of service may not draw attention, they are fully seen by the Lord.<\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0This issue of Diakonia invites us to reflect on the church beyond its walls. While assembly work and\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0gatherings are vital, God\u2019s work is intended to be extended far beyond the places we meet. In the\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0parable of the great supper, our Lord said in <\/span>Luke 14:23 (KJV)<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u201cAnd the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0to\u00a0<\/i><\/span>come in, that my house may be filled.\u201d<\/i><\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/i>God\u2019sheart is indeed outward-looking. The gospel was to be proclaimed from\u00a0Jerusalem, to\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Judea,\u00a0<\/span>to Samaria and to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8). This\u00a0was also expressed by Paul and\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Barnabas in <\/span>Acts 13:47\u00a0(KJV)\u00a0<\/b><\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u201cFor so\u00a0hath the Lord commanded us, <\/i><\/span>saying,<\/span> I have set thee to be a light of the
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/i>Alongside\u00a0this clear mission to those <\/span>without<\/i>, we must continue to spur one\u00a0another to carry on in the\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0work <\/span>within<\/i> the local assembly. From urban\u00a0assemblies to those located in less populated areas,\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0each has its own\u00a0composition and challenges. We must not forget the smaller, faithful assemblies\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0that labour quietly and often face unique difficulties. Encouragement, fellowship,\u00a0prayer and practical\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0support from the wider family of assemblies is truly needed.<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span>It\u00a0is CBSM\u2019s hope that believers across the country will continue cultivating a\u00a0deeper love for\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0assembly life, continuing to \u201cstir up one another to love and\u00a0good works\u201d (Heb 10:24) and \u201clift up the\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0hands which hang down\u201d (Heb 12:12).\u00a0How wonderful it would be (amazing, really), if we looked\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0outward and helped\u00a0strengthen those places where the needs are greatest.<\/span><\/p>

CBSM\u00a0exists to serve the assemblies by fostering fellowship, communication and\u00a0cooperation in the\u00a0 Lord\u2019s work. As you read the articles and reports, we trust\u00a0that it will serve to inform, remind and encourage you of our shared calling.\u00a0Perhaps say a little prayer too. <\/span><\/p>

May\u00a0our Lord help us to be faithful in serving Him, both within the assemblies and
beyond our walls.<\/span><\/p>
